Not many people know this but I’m a level 1 (black belt) Kung Fu Instructor, I studied fulltime (20+ hours per week) for 4 years under Master Jim Fung here in Sydney – Australia.
Unlike many of the Shaolin Temple Kung Fu’s, Wing Chun is pretty boring to watch… no spinning back kicks… no flying through the air… and lucky for me with my tight hamstrings – no head kicks.
Nothing flowery… nothing sexy and nothing you’ll see in a Hollywood action movie.
Just a set of principles which are very effective for self-defence.
The basic principles are; control the centre line, defend whilst attacking and always go forward or, move around the force if faced with a stronger opponent.
Which got me thinking about how you can apply Wing Chun to your marketing.
Most trainers want to know how to do a flying spinning back kick before learning how to throw a simple punch.
This is backwards.
Tactics come and go, principles remain the same.
Before you learn the latest Snapchat hack or ‘killer’ Facebook Live tactic, first learn the principles of persuasion and direct response marketing.
Once you know how to convert traffic into sales, then work on driving as much traffic to your website or landing page as possible.
There’s no point filling up bucket with water if it’s full of holes.
Nothing flowery… nothing sexy and nothing you’ll watch in a Facebook live video from the latest ‘Social Media gooroo’.
