Once upon a time there were two woodcutters, John and Harry.
John and Harry were competing against each other to see who could chop down the most trees in a single day.
Within earshot of each other, both men began hacking away at the trees immediately.
An hour had passed and then John suddenly stopped, Harry was puzzled but continued hacking away at the trees none the less.
5-minutes later Harry again heard the sound of John’s axe hacking away at the trees far away in the distance.
Another hour passed by and John seemed to stop again, only to resume his chopping a few minutes later.
Harry was excited, he became confident he was going to win.
This continued throughout the rest of the day… stop-start-stop-start… and Harry became more confident and excited with every passing hour.
However, at the end of the day Harry was shocked to discover that John had felled twice as many trees.
“How is this possible? I didn’t rest once and you stopped many times! “
“Ah yes… but I stopped to sharpen my axe” John replied.
