This morning whilst driving to work I was listening to self-help legend Earl Nightingale.
Every few months I tune into his audio program ‘Leading The Field’ to get some motivation, inspiration and new ideas.
Today he was telling his acres of diamonds story.
The story is about a South African farmer who hears tales of other farmers making millions discovering diamond mines.
Upon hearing these tales he gets so excited he sells his own farm to go prospecting in search of his fortune.
He spends the rest of his life wondering the African continent searching unsuccessfully for diamonds. Finally… tired, worn out and despondent he threw himself into a river and drowned.
Meanwhile… the guy that bought his farm was crossing a stream one day and discovered one of the largest diamonds that ever existed… and, it turns out the stream was full of such diamonds.
The moral of the story is clear;
Had the first farmer taken the time to explore his own farm he would have already owned one of the largest diamond mines in the World free and clear.
As fitnessprenuers we often do the same thing, looking for the next bright shiny object before exploring our own business.
